Step-by-Step: How to Transfer Files

1

Create Your Account

Sign up for free at cloudcombo.app. No credit card required for the free plan. Enter your email, create a password, and verify your email address. The entire registration process takes less than 2 minutes.

What You Get:

  • Instant access to the platform dashboard
  • Ability to connect your first cloud storage account
  • Free plan includes basic file operations
2

Connect Your Cloud Accounts

Navigate to Cloud Manager and connect your cloud storage accounts. We use OAuth 2.0 authentication, which means you log in directly through your cloud provider. Cloud Combo never sees or stores your passwords.

Security Features:

  • OAuth 2.0 secure authentication - never enter passwords directly
  • Encrypted access tokens stored securely
  • Revoke access anytime from your cloud provider settings
3

Browse Your Files

Access all your connected cloud drives from the unified file browser. Browse folders, search for files, view thumbnails, and see file details including size, type, and modification date across all your cloud accounts.

File Browser Features:

  • Unified interface for all cloud providers
  • Tree view with expandable folders and subfolders
  • Image thumbnails for photos and visual files
4

Select Files to Transfer

Choose files or entire folders from your source cloud storage. You can select multiple files at once. When you select a folder, all its contents and subfolders are automatically included, preserving the complete folder structure.

Selection Options:

  • Select individual files or entire folders
  • Multi-select for batch operations
  • Automatic size calculation before transfer
5

Choose Destination

Select where you want to transfer your files. Choose any connected cloud storage account and browse to the specific folder where files should be placed. You can create new folders in the destination if needed.

Destination Options:

  • Transfer to any connected cloud provider
  • Choose specific destination folder or root
  • Folder structure is preserved during transfer
6

Start the Transfer

Click "Start Transfer" to begin. Files are transferred directly from one cloud to another through our servers using streaming technology. You don't need to keep your browser open - transfers continue in the background.

Transfer Process:

  • Server-side transfer - no local download required
  • Real-time progress updates with file-by-file status
  • Background processing continues even if browser closes
  • Automatic retry on temporary failures (up to 3 attempts)

How Our Technology Works

Server-Side Transfers

Unlike traditional methods that download files to your computer and then upload them, Cloud Combo performs transfers directly between cloud providers on our servers. This is much faster and doesn't use your device's storage or bandwidth.

We use streaming technology to handle files of any size efficiently. Large files are transferred in chunks, allowing for pause and resume capabilities if network issues occur.

Background Job Processing

Transfers are processed as background jobs using Redis and Bull queue system. This means your transfers continue even if you close your browser or lose internet connection temporarily.

You can monitor transfer progress in real-time from the Transfer List page. Each transfer shows detailed status including files completed, files in progress, and any errors.

API Integration

We use official APIs from each cloud provider: Google Drive API, Dropbox API, Microsoft Graph API for OneDrive, and pCloud API — plus the open WebDAV protocol for Nextcloud, ownCloud, Synology NAS, Koofr and other self-hosted storage. This ensures maximum compatibility, reliability, and security.

All file operations (read, write, delete) are performed through these official APIs with proper authentication and authorization at every step.

Data Privacy

Your files are never permanently stored on our servers. During transfers, files are streamed through our system and immediately deleted once the transfer completes.

We only store metadata (file names, sizes, transfer status) needed to provide the service. All connections use SSL/TLS encryption, and access tokens are encrypted in our database.

Common Use Cases

Switching Cloud Providers

Moving from one cloud service to another? Transfer all your files and folders from Google Drive to Dropbox, or OneDrive to pCloud in one operation.

Backup & Redundancy

Create backups of important files across multiple cloud providers. Keep copies in both Google Drive and Dropbox for extra redundancy.

Collaboration

Share files with team members who use different cloud platforms. Transfer project files from your Dropbox to a client's OneDrive.

Storage Optimization

Distribute files across multiple cloud accounts to make the most of free storage tiers from different providers.

Device Migration

Moving to a new device or platform? Transfer your files to the cloud storage that works best with your new setup.

Organization

Organize files by keeping work files in one cloud and personal files in another, while managing both from one interface.
